Orthodoxy at a Turning Point: A National Conversation
Panel #2: Women and the Future of Judaism
Moderated by Rebbetzin Sharon Freundel
Distinguished Guest Panel:
There is no more far-reaching, exciting, and controversial development in Orthodox Judaism in our time than the turmoil about the status of women in Jewish life, and the aspiration to enhance their status. What is the halakhic basis for such an aspiration? Does Orthodoxy recognize the concept of equality that so many Orthodox Jews live by in other walks of life? How should the new position of women in the larger society affect their position in the traditional Jewish community?
