Yehuda Mirsky and Shai Held discuss Rav Abraham Isaac Kook and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
$12; $10 Members/Students with ID/Seniors

Scholars Yehudah Mirsky and Shai Held explore the captivating visions of two of the most influential and controversial rabbis of the 20th Century. Rav Abraham Isaac Kook was the founder of Jewish Palestine's chief rabbinate, a passionate thinker and the founding theologian of religious Zionism. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel was a scholar, theologian and activist whose powerful legacy has deeply shaped American Jewry.
What did these two men have in common, and where did they differ? What can their competing visions tell us about American and Israeli Judaism today, and the possibilities--and limitations--for dialogue as we seek a path forward?
Yehudah Mirsky is a writer, scholar and activist. He is currently an associate professor at Brandeis University’s Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and Schusterman Center for Israel Studies. He is the author of Rav Kook: Mystic in a Time of Revolution.
