High Holiday Seats

Kesher Israel is pleased to offer seats for either both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur together or for each individual holiday. Given changing COVID realities and protocols locally and nationally, we will be offering two options for services: indoors in the Kesher Israel Sanctuary and outdoors at the Dumbarton House on Q Street, NW. There will be no Yom Kippur services in the Social Hall this year.

The following protocols will be in place:

  • Masks will be required - both indoors and outdoors - regardless of vaccination status.

  • Seating will not be socially distanced in either location, but we will endeavor to provide space between people when possible.

  • Due to the density and length of services, full vaccination will be required to attend ticketed indoor services at Kesher. Children and those not yet fully vaccinated are invited to join us outdoors at Dumbarton House.

  • Anyone speaking, leading davening, or reading Torah will be fully vaccinated or tested within 72 hours of the Holiday.

  • Speakers or Chazzanim will have the option to remove their masks only when alone on the Bimah or 6 feet from the nearest person, per DC Health guidance.

A Note about Outdoor Seating

Because we have a limited number of outdoor seats available, we are strongly requesting that anyone who is comfortable sitting indoors please reserve an indoor seat. Should we run out of outdoor seats, Rabbi Shafner will triage requests and attempt to meet as many needs as possible. We apologize in advance if we are not able to accommodate all outdoor requests and appreciate your understanding!

Please note: At the current time, Dumbarton House is unavailable for Mincha and Neilah on Yom Kippur. In the event of good weather, we will hold Mincha and Neilah outside at an alternative site. In the event of inclement weather, we may only be able to offer indoor seating.

The outdoor venue comes at a considerable expense to the shul that is far more than what is covered by ticket sales. In 2020, we received a generous donation to cover all additional COVID-induced High Holiday expenses, but this year they will come out of Kesher's operating budget. If you would like to help offset the cost of the outdoor venue, you may do so as part of your ticket purchase. Thank you!

Seats at all services must be purchased in advance. Seats in the sanctuary will be assigned. Seats in the outdoor location will be open seating.

The early bird deadline to purchase seats is Wednesday, August 25th
