The Kesher Israel Community Kashrut Standards contain information on kashering for Pesach and additional resources.
Mechirat Chametz (Sale of Chametz)
Rabbi Shafner will be coordinating the sale of chametz for Kesher Israel this year.
All Kesher Israel chametz sales will be conducted online.
Though in other years it may be preferable to appoint Rabbi Shafner in person, your online agency is fully acceptable halachically. Please click here to fill out the online form. That is all that is required.
The online form must be completed by Thursday, April 14th!
Please wait an hour after the end of the holiday to use your chametz. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch with Rabbi Shafner.
Maot Chittim
If one is concerned about their ability to afford Pesach foods, please contact Rabbi Shafner for assistance.
Maot Chittim donations can be contributed online or called into the office.
Pre-Pesach Food Drive with Capitol Kosher Pantry
Every year, Jewish organizations around the world come together for Good Deeds Week (formerly Good Deeds Day) to highlight chesed opportunities in their communities. This year, Kesher will organize a Pre-Pesach Food Drive for Capital Kosher Pantry, echoing the focus of Good Deeds Week: food insecurity.
As you clean out your chametz and shop for Pesach, consider donating either Kosher for Pesach or chametz items. A box will be available for donations in the shul lobby from Sunday, April 3rd through Sunday, April 10th. Please email Miriam Cleeman at chesed@kesher.org with any questions.
Community Seder and Food Ordering
Kesher Community Seder Friday, April 15.
Join together with your Kesher community for a traditional Seder with the Shafner/Winkelman family! Click here to register and for more information.
