GPATS is a unique program for women to engage in high-level Torah study, advancing their knowledge and skills in Talmud and Halacha.
You will have several chances to hear from them, including:

- Pre-Mincha Shiur
- Seudah Shlishit
About GPATS: The Graduate Program in Advanced Talmud/Tanach Studies (GPATS) at Yeshiva University is a rigorous master’s program that offers women the opportunity to engage in high-level Torah learning. Through intensive study of Talmud, Tanach, and Halakha, GPATS equips its students with advanced textual skills, deep Torah knowledge, and a strong foundation in Jewish thought and practice.
Meet the Speakers:
Rivka Werner is learning in YU’s GPATS program, pursuing an MA in Biblical and Talmudic Interpretation. She recently graduated from York University with a specialized honours BSc in Neuroscience and is an alumna of Nishmat’s Shana Ba’Aretz Program, the Nachshon Fellowship at HebrewU, the Beren Summer Fellowship at the Tikvah Fund, and various Beit Midrash Programs, including Bnot Sinai, Shoshanim, Moshava IO, Stone, and Drisha.
Penina Marmon, born and raised in Queens, New York, is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Tanach from Yeshiva University's Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic and Tanach Studies (GPATS). She is also currently pursuing a Masters in Humanities with a concentration in Jewish Classical Education through the Lobel Center. Penina spent a year studying in Israel at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY) and attended Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women, where she received a degree in philosophy. Penina has also been a Tikvah Summer Fellow, a Straus Scholar of the Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought, and a Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) fellow. She has worked extensively on the editorial and research process for a book adaptation of essays by Rabbi Meir Soloveichik through Koren Publishing.
