Join us for a Shabbat with Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger and Noor A'wad of Roots/Shorashim, an organization dedicated to fostering dialogue, understanding, and peace between Israelis and Palestinians. We'll have a few opportunities to hear from Rabbi Schlesinger and Mr. Awad:

  • Friday night: "An Israeli Zionist Settler and a Palestinian Activist in Dialogue": Hear from the speakers as they share their personal stories, their journeys of difference and understanding, and their challenging work. With time for questions.
  • Seudah Shlishit: Rabbi Schlesinger will give a shiur during seudah shelishit on "Chasidic Visions of Passionate Pluralism."

Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger is one of the founders of Roots and and its Director of International Relations. He is Orthodox Rabbi and teacher who has been involved in interfaith work for nearly 15 years, and a passionate Zionist settler who has been profoundly transformed by his encounters with Palestinians.

Noor Awad is the Palestinian English-language spokesperson for Roots, and focuses on giving listeners an incisive, honest, and introspective perspective on Palestinian identity and experience, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Roots' role within it in the arduous journey towards a solution. He is also a tour guide who leads English speakers on geopolitical tours of region.
