High Holiday Seat Information
Kesher Israel is pleased to offer seats for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur together or for each individual holiday.
Seats for all services and locations must be purchased in advance and will be assigned. Charts of seat locations will be posted in the shul upon arrival.

2023 Yom Kippur Appeals
Please consider donating to our 2023 Yom Kippur appeals to support both critical community infrastructure (Eruv, cemetaries, Welfare Fund) as well as the daily needs of Kesher!

Babysitting & Youth Programming
Registration is now live for High Holiday Babysitting! The cost is $65 per child participating in babysitting on Rosh Hashanah and $45 per child participating in babysitting or programming for Kol Kidrei Services on the evening of Yom Kippur. Children must be 12 months and older; late fees apply after September 1. Register now.
We are currently looking for both paid babysitters and volunteer coordinators. If you or someone you know is available and interested, please reach out to the office.
Kesher Kids and Families Pizza Party. Save the date! Join us at the Shafner Sukkah to celebrate Sukkot, enjoy some pizza, and have fun at our family Sukkot pizza party with Sara and Rabbi Shafner. The event is intended for children and their families! Registration is coming soon; RSVP required. |
Education and Shiurim
The Pleasure of Teshuvah (Repentance and Return). Thursdays, August 24, 31, and September 7 after Maariv. Join Rabbi Shafner at Kesher and on Zoom to explore and discuss the idea of pleasure associated with repentance through the writings of several Jewish thinkers such as Rav Kook, the Alter of Slabodka and others in preparation for the High Holidays. Programming
Rosh Hashanah Mix and Match Meals. The Kesher welcoming committee is excited to be organizing a mix 'n match meal for lunch on the second day of Rosh Hashanah (9/17)! Please use this form to sign up as a host or guest. The deadline to sign up is Sunday (9/10) at 11:59pm. You'll still be able to fill out the form after that, but we make no guarantees about fulfilling those requests. Pre-Rosh Hashanah Apple Picking. Join Kesher friends on an excursion to Butler's Orchard for pre-Rosh Hashanah apple picking on Sunday, September 10. We will be coordinating rides, so if you have a car and are willing to drive, please fill out this two question form. Entrance is $3. You can to add to the several buckets of apples that will be donated to Manna Food Center, buy your own bushel of fresh apples for Rosh Hashanah, or just join for the friends and holiday photo opp. The group will be leaving from Kesher at 3:30 PM and driving to Butler's Orchard. |
Kesher Sukkah Building.Please join us following Sunday Shacharit (approximately 8:45am) on Erev Yom Kippur to build the Sukkahs at shul and Rose Park. Contact Rabbi Shafner for more information. All welcome! |
Shmini Atzeret Mixed Drinks Sukkah Hop! SAVE THE DATE! Kesher will be hosting a 21+ sukkah hop to mix, meet people, and enjoy some drinks in a fun and casual setting. More details and registration to follow! Reach out to mirylhilibrand@gmail.com if you are interested in hosting a stop. |
Simchat Torah Community Lunch. Sunday, October 8. Come join for a free lunch with the Kesher community following Hakafot and Simchat Torah davening! Please sign up by October 2 so we have an accurate headcount to order food. Lunch will be served following ~2:30pm, but final timing depends on the end of davening. |
Community Events
High Holiday Food Drive. Kesher is partnering wih Yad Yehuda of Greater Washington and the Capital Kosher Pantry to help stock their shelves before the chaggim. From Sunday, September 3rd through Sunday, September 10th, a box will be available in the shul lobby to drop off donations. Please email Miriam Cleeman at chesed@kesher.org with any questions.
